SmartPlug Installation
The SmartPlug is a critical upgrade for a safe shore power system:
- SmartPlug provides 27x more electrical contact than traditional shore power plugs. This means you won’t have to worry about poor conductivity, which can be a fire hazard and can cause voltage problems in your AC appliances.
- Rugged locking system and side clips that lock the plug securely into the inlet, eliminating any stress on the pins from movement of the power cord. The SmartPlug does not require twisting or “aligning” to get it right. Anyone can plug the shore power in and can easily determine the plug is clipped in correctly.
- Multi-fin silicone gaskets keep shore power connections dry.

We start with a conversation about the issue with your boat’s shore power system to determine whether the Smart Plug is the correct solution. We may inspect your boat to determine the accessibility of the shore power inlet and the condition of the existing shore power wiring before configuring the shore power inlet and power cord for your boat.
Service and Pricing Details
This upgrade provides the ultimate peace of mind from the shore power inlet to the AC main panel. We know each boat is unique and we take the time to make sure it is done right on your boat. All installations include Made in USA SmartPlug inlet and cable (25’ or 50’), Ancor tinned marine wire & Ancor wire terminations, and BlueSea AC breakers. We follow ABYC standards for wire size, crimp pull-test capacity and wire support. We determine the condition of your shore power wiring for serviceability when converting to SmartPlug, ensuring years of safe and trouble-free service. We can install Smart Plug systems on 110V, 240V, 30 Amp, 50 Amp, Three-Wire, and Four-Wire shore power.
- Basic 30 amp conversion. The boat’s internal 110V wiring is in good condition and the power inlet can be rewired without replacing the wire. Includes new Smart Plug shore power inlet, new shore power cable, and associated parts and labor. $1450
- Advanced 30 amp conversion. The boat’s internal 110V wiring is corroded or damaged, requiring replacement of both the power inlet and up to 10 ft. of new internal 110V wiring. 10 ft. is the maximum allowable length of continuous wire from the shore power inlet to the AC main panel or breaker. Includes up to 10 ft. of wiring, new SmartPlug shore power inlet, new shore power cable, and associated parts and labor. $1950
- Ultimate 30 amp conversion: This is a complete rebuild of the shore power system from the dock to the AC main panel. Includes newly installed internal AC wiring, newly installed AC main breaker, new SmartPlug shore power inlet, new shore power cable, and associated parts and labor. $2450
